Published trophy references report no chapter select, post-story free roam or New Game+. Keep rotating manual saves so a missed optional item does not require restarting the entire campaign.
What the published save-system reference says
PowerPyx documents two rotating autosaves and eight manual slots per playthrough slot. It also reports that earlier areas cannot simply be selected from a chapter menu after the story. Preserve manual saves if you want a reliable way back.
Difficulty can change saving requirements. On Hellraiser difficulty, published opening guides describe manual saves consuming Save Tokens. Choose your difficulty with that restriction in mind rather than assuming every wall save mark can always be used freely.
A practical save rotation
- Area entry: keep one save before exploring a new major location.
- Before commitment: use a different slot before a boss, a large purchase or a one-way transition.
- After success: save the completed objective without immediately overwriting the earlier recovery point.
- Final decision: retain the last available save until you have finished exploring the endings you want.
This is a planning method rather than a claim that every slot is available at every moment. Use the safe opportunities your current run provides. Naming a save mentally by its purpose is more useful than retaining several almost identical saves from the same corridor.
Separate progression, permanent upgrades and trophy items
Published trophy guides list firearms, crafting recipes, Pain Pillars and Suffering Pillars as important completion categories. They describe five firearms, twelve recipes and five of each pillar type. Documents and lore notes serve a different purpose and are not all trophy requirements.
Track these categories separately. A completed story objective does not prove you found an optional pillar, and a room with all its visible supplies collected may still contain an inspectable item. Confirm the specific category a trophy requires before spending time on unrelated pickups.
The before-you-leave checklist
- Have you inspected the area’s optional rooms, shelves and cabinets?
- Did you collect a permanent upgrade that was visible during the route?
- Have you checked the current shop’s available recipes and upgrades?
- Did you collect the reward or valuable dropped after a boss?
- Do you still have a save from before entering this area?
At the docks, a published trophy reference specifically calls out the nine-bottle shooting challenge as missable. Check the requirement before triggering the next event and keep the earlier save. Handle launch-day trophy reports carefully
The launch roadmap reports problems with the buy/sell shop trophies on some runs. That is a dated report, not a verified statement that the current version is broken. Saber’s October 22 patch notes also list platform-specific achievement and progression fixes.
Record your platform and version when investigating a trophy issue. Do not follow a destructive workaround merely because an old comment says it worked. Keeping the pre-shop save gives you options while you check current evidence.
Keep the final save until both choices are complete
The published ending route describes revisiting the final decision from the last autosave. Preserve that opportunity instead of starting a new run immediately after the credits. The ending-choice guide explains the two actions with full spoilers.
For ordinary survival decisions that do not require a completion route, see the beginner’s guide. For numeric cabinet locks during an area sweep, use the code reference.
