THE SHORT ANSWER

Boss progress depends on recognising attack windows and Genesis Configuration prompts. Prepare ranged ammunition for the Sister of Mercy, use Bruno’s openings, and expose Marlowe’s vulnerable body before committing close-range damage.

Prepare for the encounter, not just the health bar

Make a manual save before entering a new arena when the route allows it. Sort equipment, reload and leave carrying space for useful pickups. Examine the room during a calm moment for supplies, hazards and routes around the central obstacle.

Difficulty changes how forgiving an exchange feels. Treat a published strategy as an explanation of the intended window, not a fixed ammunition budget. If a failed attempt consumed most of your supplies, an earlier save may be more useful than repeating the fight from a depleted state.

Bruno: make room for the heavy attacks

The first Bruno encounter occurs on the mansion approach. Use space and the room’s throwable objects, then commit firearm damage when you have a clear opening. Watch for the blue interaction state that indicates a Genesis Configuration opportunity.

The later Bruno fight gives you a broader arsenal. Published guides describe using fire and close shotgun damage during a safe opening, then following him when the encounter shifts rooms. Avoid chasing so closely that you enter the next attack without room to react. After victory, inspect the dropped item before moving on.

Charlotte: recognise which encounter you are in

The early Charlotte sequences are escapes and stealth sections. They are not the same encounter as claiming Charlotte’s heart. In the chapel escape, the overhead flame is the scripted solution; spending the rest of your ammunition on her is not the progression step.

For the later arena, take time to collect supplies before the enemy phase begins if the game permits it. Distinguish ordinary enemies from the boss objective and keep the route around the arena available. Our Charlotte escape guide covers the earlier van and graveyard sections.

Sister of Mercy: save ranged damage and watch Hellchains

The Sister moves through the air, so ranged attacks are the reliable way to maintain damage. When she throws knives, pause your own attack to evade rather than trading hits while stationary.

At the red-lit charge phases, damage her as she approaches. The published route describes a stagger followed by a Hellchains prompt. Use that prompted interaction rather than continuing to fire through it. After the fight, inspect the reward and then the Labyrinth route beyond the arena.

Marlowe: expose the target before using the shotgun

The final major fight involves targets attached to the creature. Destroy the required exposed targets, then use the Hellchains prompt to open the creature and reveal Marlowe’s vulnerable body. That is the window for strong close-range damage.

The encounter changes position during the fight. Reassess the target sequence after the transition rather than assuming the previous vulnerability remains open. Keep enough awareness of the arena to reach the revealed body without being trapped against scenery.

After a boss, preserve the useful save

A defeated boss can lead directly into a new objective or one-way transition. Check dropped valuables and use the next available save. Keep the pre-fight save if you are cleaning up optional objectives later.

After the heart sequence, the game still has a final traversal and decision. Read the ending-choice guide only when you are ready for full spoilers. For general weapon and inventory decisions without ending details, return to the survival guide.
